Begun in France, possibly before 1918, the Exquisite Corpse (EC) game may have been derived from an old parlor-game called "Consequences" in which players wrote on sheet of paper, folded it to conceal what they wrote, after which they passed it to the next player to add their work. As in the EC, the entire work was revealed only when completely unfolded.
